m Nepal starts from Lukla airport after a 45mn flight from Kathmandu. It is a 14/16 days trek to the Base Camp, depending on the extra days of acclimatization included in your itinerary. The track is well marked and the sceneries are one of the most amazing you could experience. It is steadily uphill trail all the way though and reaching Gorakshep is a very long day along a huge moraine. From the village, Base Camp is only 3/4 hours walk on a good pace. The Base Camp is a vast glacier where expedition tents are scattered on pieces of ice (from April to May only). To get a good view of the summit, you have to climb Kalapattar (alt. 5545m). You start at night , the cold is penetrating and you may suffer from altitude sickness. At day break, the sun rise from the summit of Everest. The panorama is magic and the reward is worth the effort.
